Kris’ Virtual Asterisk (KVA)

Named for our own Director of Operations, Kris Sheets, the KVA distribution available from Aretta is a clean cut LAMP / Asterisk / FreePBX installation optimized to run in a virtual environment. Designed primarily for Asterisk system integrators with a large number of deployments, it focuses on a stable deployment of Asterisk and related applications without a lot of excess baggage. You can choose the KVA distribution when ordering a hosted virtual Asterisk server from Aretta.

At a high level, Kris’ Virtual Asterisk (KVA) is made up of the following:

  • CentOS 5
  • Asterisk 1.4.21
  • FreePBX 2.4.0.1
  • Custom Security Scripts

Kris Sheets Kris has been working with Asterisk systems since 2003. Shortly after Astricon Atlanta 2004, Kris founded the Atlanta Asterisk Users Group (AAUG) www.atlaug.com AAUG is one of the most active local area Asterisk users groups in the world with over 200 members. Kris regularly arranges speakers from around the US to come in and present on a variety of topics.

His expertise with Asterisk includes system configuration, troubleshooting, and high availability (HA) Asterisk systems. Prior to joining Aretta, Kris was at BellSouth (AT&T) for almost a decade in the Digital Services Group where he worked with Lucent, Nortel, Cisco, Tellabs and Redback Equipment. Kris was closely involved in the service, activation, and repair of AT&T's ADSL infrastructure in the South Eastern United States.
